What is Summer Impact?
Summer Impact Cincinnati is a week long (Sunday-Friday) serving experience where we work alongside ministries in inner-city Cincinnati participating in building projects, day camps, delivering furniture, communing with those who are experiencing homelessness and sickness, and so much more.

Youth groups, women's groups, men's groups, young adult groups, or any other eclectically congregating group of individuals with a desire to serve and give back are invited to join us this summer for a life changing week of serving. Groups are hosted by Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church.

The heart behind Summer Impact is transformation through serving experiences, meaningful interactions, and individual/group reflection in order to see the work that God is already doing and how God is calling each of us to partner in that Kingdom work. The hope is that teams will return home with a renewed energy and sense of where God is leading them to serve in their local community throughout the year.

WHAT DOES A WEEK OF SUMMER IMPACT LOOK LIKE?
Groups arrive at Hyde Park Community UMC on Sunday afternoon at 3:30p and are greeted by the Summer Impact Interns. Our interns will help get teams settled in to their rooms and give a tour of the church. Beds and individual on-site showers will be provided. The rest of the afternoon/evening will include an orientation, catered dinner, a night of worship. Teams will have an opportunity to learn about the mission of Summer Impact and our serving partners, as well as the history of Cincinnati. Each team will be assigned an intern and will be given a serving schedule for the week.
We start serving on Monday. Every morning will start off with breakfast and a devotion led by one of our summer impact interns. This will help us shape our focus and hearts as we set off to our serving sites. Teams will then pack their lunches to bring with them to serving sites. Next, your assigned intern and team will leave to serve with a ministry partner for the day. Interns will partner with leaders of each team in guiding the teams to have a heart for service and eyes to see God working through each serving opportunity. Any materials or supplies needed for service will be provided.
After a full day of work, teams will return to Hyde Park Community UMC for showers and time to decompress. Dinner will be served at the church followed by worship and reflection. The rest of the evening, teams may explore the city of Cincinnati (Click HERE for a list of our favorite things to do!) or spend time as a team at the church.
Wednesday is the only day that doesn't follow the standard evening schedule. After work, teams will "be on their own" for dinner and evening activities. We suggest enjoying some Cincinnati famous chili or any other local restaurant and an evening adventure. We are happy to help you plan your evening before you arrive. Click HERE for a list of ideas for your Wednesday evening.
Friday is the last day of serving! Teams will return to the church after serving for a final debrief and group send off by 5:00p. You are welcome to travel home that evening or stay one more night and enjoy the city!
